Century Farm
Thank you to Sandra Davenport Snapp for sending in a drawing of Century Farm, which was owned by Doctrine and Charlotte Davenport and founded in 1881.
Rehoboth Church - South Side of Albemarle Sound
According to the
Roanoke Beacon of 7th June 1929, slaves built the first Methodist Protestant Church in Washington County in 1857. Mrs. Guilford Davenport and brother, Gibson Cherry, of Charleston, SC and Rev. David Braswell did much work in the interest of the church.
Guilford L Davenport and Sally Cherry Davenport are highlighted in the
Chart of Silas Davenport's Descendants, so you can see the connection of the Davenport family to the restoration of the church.
Davenport at Pearl Harbor Anniversary
I thought I would share with you the photo recently taken of the Pearl Harbor Survivors that attended the 71st Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on 7 December, 1941. My dad, Ernest Pettigrew Davenport, son of Luther Norman Davenport, grandson of Ebenezer Pettigrew Davenport, and Great Grandson of Silas Davenport is the fifth individual from the left facing the camera. He has a walking cane standing in front of him.
Affectionately your cousin,
Mike Davenport
